The Charlotte Knights have Game Day positions open in the following departments:

A.  CONCESSIONS

Concessions Stand Worker - Cashier, Runner, Cooks, Supervisors:
Help set up the concession stand per the concession stand manager’s instructions. Take food and drink orders from fans using a point of sales terminal, gather all items ordered, and accept payment for the sale.  Cashiers and cooks execute food orders.  Previous cash register experience is a must. Help close and clean the concessions stand at the end of the shift per concession manager instructions. Lots of fan interaction! 

Food/Beverage Vendors/Hawkers
Vendors are responsible for selling various food and beverage items to fans in their seats.  You must be vocal, outgoing and energetic as well as able to walk throughout the ballpark and carry up to 20lb the entire game.  *Tips may be accepted

Kitchen
Have experience working standard kitchen equipment including but not limited to: tilt skillet, mixers, stove top, convection ovens, etc.  Working knowledge of preparation of all food products, following standardized recipes when required, must be knowledgeable of all food handling requirements, serve-safe is a plus, and adhere to instructions given by chef or managers.   
*Must be able to lift 25 lbs. regularly and 50 lbs. on occasion, must be reliable.

B. STADIUM OPERATIONS

Parking
Responsible for the fans first experience on a game day.  Duties for a parking attendant include, but are not limited to: taking money, directing traffic, monitoring parking lot, keeping lot clean and working with stadium operations during the game.

Box Office Ticket Seller
Must have strong interpersonal skills and provide excellent customer service. Staff members must be able to project an approachable, professional attitude at all times. Start 1 hour and 45 minutes prior to game time and work through the end of game if needed. Qualifications: Working knowledge of computers and experience in handling money. Experience with TicketReturn preferred. Must be available to work most games and work flexible hours. Must be able to provide excellent customer service when dealing with the public. Must be dependable and punctual. Must be available to work weekends and holidays.  (A Background check is required for this position.)

Usher/Ticket Taker
Greeting and directing fans.  Duties for an usher include, but are not limited to: scanning tickets at the gates, cleaning seats, escorting fans to their correct seats, make sure fans are in their correct seats, working elevators all of these are with an emphasis on general customer service. 
*Should be comfortable standing on your feet for up to 5 hours!

Groundskeeping Assistants
Assist Head Groundskeeper with preparation of playing field before the game, assist during the game, and help postgame groundskeeping duties.

 

 

 

 

C.  MERCHANDISE

Merchandise Vendor/Hawker Job Description:  Aggressive selling of merchandise through the concourse at Knights games and other events.  Candidates must be outgoing, personable, aggressive, vocal, energetic and willing to engage with customers.  Responsibilities include;

  • Responsible for walking and aggressively selling products through the concourses
  • Perform nightly inventories and settling of cash sales
  • Ensure customers are services at the highest level of customer service
  • Product knowledge and stock replenishment
  • Responsible to follow stadium and department polices and procedures
  • Maintain a professional attitude and appearance at all times
  • Perform other related duties and tasks as assigned

Birthday Part Host/Hostess Job Description: Must have an energetic, outgoing personality and is able to get along with a variety of personalities.  Applicants must work well with others and excel in a team-oriented environment. Ability to multi-task is a must. Responsibilities includes;

  • Assisting parents/guardians, children and guests for the duration of the assigned birthday party
  • Setting up and cleaning birthday party deck
  • Serving food and beverages to guests while observing federal and state health regulations.
  • Responsible to follow stadium and department polices and procedures
  • Maintain a professional attitude and appearance at all times
  • Perform other related duties and tasks as assigned

Cashiers Job Description: Applicants must have excellent customer service skills and able to work in a fast-paced environment.  Excellent accounting skill and cash handling experience a must.  Responsibilities include:

  • Counting drawers when opening and closing
  • Verifying drawer total with cash register journal transactions
  • Assist patrons with purchases
  • Product knowledge and stock replenishment
  • Cleaning areas as needed
  • Responsible to follow stadium and department polices and procedures
  • Maintain a professional attitude and appearance at all times
  • Perform other related duties and tasks as assigned

Junior Knights Kids Club Job Description: Applicants must have excellent customer service skills and able to work in a fast-paced environment. Must have an energetic, outgoing personality and is able to get along with a variety of personalities. Responsibilities include:

  • Entice fans to enroll in Knights fan clubs including the Junior Knights Kids Club
  • Participate in lead generation efforts by surveying fans and promoting current sales initiatives
  • Coordinate kids club in-stadium events
  • Set up and clean areas
  • Responsible to follow stadium and department polices and procedures
  • Maintain a professional attitude and appearance at all times
  • Perform other related duties and tasks as assigned

 

 

 

 

D. PROMOTIONS

Promotions & Entertainment Event Staff:  A successful candidate for the Charlotte Knights Promotions & Entertainment Event Staff must be a self-motivated team player, with strong customer service and organizational skills.  This is an excellent opportunity to learn the promotions and in-game entertainment side of professional baseball.  A successful candidate will have a superior customer service mind-set possessing the character and experience to support our goal to: “BE FRIENDLY AND BE HELPFUL.  This requires diplomacy in all situations, enthusiasm, and the ability to make customers and fellow employees feel valued, important and comfortable.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee several aspects on the on-field promotions and in-game entertainment, including scheduling and managing of in-game entertainment and execution of nightly game promotions run-down
  • Duties include entertaining clients, following through on promotions and other sold inventory; assist with in-game and on-field promotions and taking photographs of promotions & sponsorships.

 

 

 

 

Frequently Asked Questions Regarding Game Day Employment:

QUALIFICATIONS:  Must be 16 years of age with a valid driver’s license. Degree preferred but not mandatory.
SEASONAL EMPLOYMENT:  April 1st - Sept. 6th
COMPENSATION:  Game Day Pay (varies per position)

  • Are there any full-time positions available? 
    • No, all positions are for Knights home games (72 in total from April - September)
  • Am I eligible for benefits?
    • No
  • What is the pay?
    • Some pay is hourly (mainly in concession & usher positions), however many positions are paid by the game and will vary on department.  Game Pay will equal out to right around minimum wage, concessions pay will vary.
  • Will I get to watch the games when I work?
    • Most positions are out of sight of the playing field so watching the game will not be an option during your work hours.  You are always free to purchase a ticket as a fan if you are not working!!
  • What if I am unable to work ALL the games?
    • Working all games is not a necessity, however being able to work all/most Knights home games will enhance your chances of being hired.
  • What is the working attire during games?
    • The Knights will provide staff shirts for a nominal charge or aprons for most positions.  Khaki pants / shorts with closed toed comfortable shoes are your responsibility.
  • How long should I expect my interviews to be today?
    • Due to the high interest, interviews will be kept under 5 minutes.
  • When can I expect to hear back from the Knights to see if I was hired?
    • We will contact everyone by March 26th 2010.  Please do not contact us prior to this date.
