Howard Kellman is in his 36th season as the "Voice of the Tribe". He was inducted into the Indiana Sports Writers & Sportscasters Association Hall of Fame in 2009 and reached a historic milestone during the 2010 season when he broadcast his 5000th Indianapolis Indians game on June 4.
Kellman joined the Indians in 1974 and has been the club's lead play-by-play announcer each year during that time frame except for the 1975 and 1980 seasons. He also served as the lead announcer for ESPN's coverage of the Triple-A World Series from 2006-2008.
He has also called games for the Chicago White Sox (1984) and Cleveland Cavaliers (1988-89).
Honored as Indiana's Sportscaster of the Year in 2002, Kellman has called IHSAA football and basketball games on WHMB-TV 40 since 1990-91. He has also served as the lead announcer on Indians telecasts since 2000.
Kellman is a graduate of Brooklyn College. He was also an announcer for St. John's basketball during his collegiate days.
