Manager of Banquets & Events

JOB DESCRIPTION: The Manager of Banquets and Events is a professional who will sell, organize and manage banquets for clients in the Fox Club at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium. The logistics and execution of the events fall upon the Manager of Banquets and Events and the food and beverage team.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The Manager of Banquets and Events will work in conjunction with the Wedding Sales and Events Manager to oversee all aspects of a banquet or event, including booking, menu selection, staffing, etc. In addition, this manager will be responsible for hiring, training, coaching and scheduling banquet staff.Responsibilities will also include assisting other departments when requested or needed. All job tasks should be performed in compliance with the philosophy, policies, goals, and budget of the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers/Appleton Baseball Club.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Manager of Banquets and Events will work with clients interested in holding non-baseball events/banquets at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium and this will include the following;

  • Calling potential clients
  • Providing tours of the facility
  • Creating event proposals
  • Coordinating banquets to meet and exceed client's needs and this will involve the following;
    • Coordinating a banquet staff of 20-25 staff members
    • Coordinating entertainment and/or required audio/visual equipment needs
    • Ensuring the satisfaction of clients by providing superior customer service

QUALIFICATIONS: Preferred candidates will have an associate's or bachelor's degree in food service or hospitality management, or a related discipline and 3-5 years of previous banquet experience.

WORK ENVIROMENT & EQUIPMENT NEEDED: The Manager of Banquets and Events will be a part of the full-time staff and, more specifically, a part of the food and beverage team. The food and beverage team consists of the Director of Food and Beverage, Assistant Director of Food and Beverage, Manager of Banquets and Events, Wedding Sales and Event Manager, Executive Chef, and Sous Chef.

The Manager of Banquets and Events' main duties revolve around non-baseball events and, even though it might be asked from time-to-time, the Manager of Banquets and Events is not required to work or be present for Timber Rattlers baseball games or other baseball special events.
The Manager of Banquets and Events will have office space and a computer equipped with:

  • Outlook; the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers e-mail center
  • CRM; the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers database program
  • Caterease
  • Vizio
  • Internet Explorer
  • Microsoft Word
  • Microsoft Excel
  • A link to a company folder with public files and documents

ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENT: The Manager of Banquets and Events may often work 10-12 hours a day, often working 50 hours a week. In addition, this person will be expected to be available on nights, weekends and holidays, when many banquets and events take place.

COMPENSATION: Salary and commission mix. Starting salary will be dependent on past experience with commission paid to the Manager of Banquets and Events on all non-baseball events booked in the Fox Club.

The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers insurance package covers 100% of medical and dental premiums for single coverage and 80% for family. Medical coverage begins 60 days from the 1st of your starting month.

The Timber Rattlers retirement plan is available to all full-time staff members who choose to participate. The team matches up to 3% of your pre-tax contribution.

Paid time off (vacation) begins with 13 days for an entire fiscal year. PTO is accrued four (4) hours every payroll. The office is closed all holidays when the facility is not in use. For each weekend date worked, a "comp day" is acquired. The first "comp day" is to be used the following week when no events are planned. The second "comp day" is banked and can be used any time the remainder of the year.

The team currently has a membership at a local health club (YMCA), which would be available to you at no cost.

Executive Sous Chef

JOB DESCRIPTION: The Executive Sous Chef is a professional who will plan, order and prepare food for all banquet meals as well as all baseball games at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium. The logistics and execution of the events and games fall upon the Executive Sous Chef and the food and beverage team.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The Executive Sous Chef position is responsible for assisting the Executive Chef with daily supervision and production of kitchen operations throughout the stadium during game and non-game events. Fully responsible for food production, sanitation, and food & labor costs. All job tasks should be performed in compliance with the philosophy, policies, goals, and budget of the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers/Appleton Baseball Club.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee all production and service of food in all kitchen areas to assure quality, consistency and proper presentation
  • Supervise and work to develop the culinary staff at Neuroscience Group Field
  • Responsible for the preparation and production of food to be served in the food outlets throughout the facility and any special culinary events (i.e., banquets, parties, etc.)
  • Maintain knowledge of local competition and general industry trends
  • Oversee monthly inventory
  • Estimating consumption
  • Ability to control food waste and identify opportunities for improvement of food/labor costs
  • Ensuring that all kitchen equipment works and is maintained properly
  • Create a highly functional, teamwork-oriented back of house team
  • Help the Executive Chef select, train and schedule kitchen staff
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word & Microsoft Excel

  • Attend Weekly staff meetings - Tuesday's at 9:30 A.M.

Part Time Positions

 

TrackMan Operator

A game-day position in Baseball Operations is now available for the 2016 season. This position will report to the Assistant Director-Video Scouting and will be responsible for the following duties:

Responsibilities:

  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Work each home game; arriving 1 hour before game time
  • Responsible for setting up rosters and tagging information
  • Will log information for the entire game - monitoring the system and making any changes throughout the game (i.e. roster changes, defensive substitutions, etc.)
  • Responsible for fixing any errors, uploading the game to the TrackMan site and running data and reports for coaches/front office staff at conclusion of game

Qualifications:

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • Qualified candidate must be motivated, well organized, and detail orientated
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be able to provide their own personal laptop and be able to work all home games.
  • Previous experience using TrackMan software is preferred but not required

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

Computer Skills:

To perform the job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft office software including Outlook and Internet Explorer.

Work Hours:

Hours vary according to the game schedule. Game times vary. Weekday games are typically 12:05pm and 6:35pm and weekend games are typically 1:05pm and 6:35pm.
