Step Up To The Plate:
A Capital Campaign for
Idaho Falls' New Ballpark

Professional Baseball, as well as local youth baseball, has been played at Highland Park (now known as McDermott Field) for over 60 years. It's this rich baseball history, coupled with Idaho Falls love for baseball, which has brought about the Step Up to the Plate Capital Campaign.

Step Up to the Plate is an effort to raise $1,350,000.00 in private contributions. These necessary dollars will match the $2,000,000.00 in public funds already allocated (via unanimous city council approval on May 27, 2004) to build a new "State of the Art" baseball stadium.

This $3,350,000.00 Ballpark of the future will play host to over 150 baseball games annually by local high schools, American Legion Teams, and the Idaho Falls Chukars Professional Team. It will be a ballpark designed to greatly enhance the atmosphere and amenities available to fans and players alike.

Anyone who has attended a game at McDermott Field in recent years can attest to the deteriorating conditions of the grandstands, bleachers, restrooms, and concession stands. Conditions of team clubhouses (locker rooms), and umpire changing rooms, administrative offices, and press boxes are all equally poor.

The time has come to fund a new ballpark that residents of our community can be proud of. It's time to build a ballpark that will benefit the community economically, benefit the many teams that will share in it's use, and one that will provide families with lasting memories of "fun nights at the ballpark" for many decades to come.

Commemorate your support for baseball in our community by purchasing a personalized brick, "Wall of Fame" wall tile, or a new box seat at the newly-built Melaleuca Field.
