Jim Elder Good Sport Fund

The Jim Elder Good Sport Fund

Jim Elder was one of the most beloved sports media figures in Arkansas history. For 33 years (1960-1993) he was the broadcaster for the Travs and was the main sports anchor on KARN 920 AM from 1965 - 1998. He handled stats for the Razorback football broadcasts for 27 years and was voted the AP Arkansas Sportscaster of the Year 11 times.

Besides his love of sports, Jim was known as a caring and loving person. He was a mentor to many young media members and had a special place in his heart for children. After Jim's passing in 1998, his friends created the Jim Elder Good Sport Fund in his honor.

The Travs and the Jim Elder Good Sport Fund will present three kids clinics before a Sunday afternoon game at Dickey-Stephens Park. Check back to see when these free kids clinics are planned for the 2009 season.
