Scott McGregor

IronBirds Coaches

Scott McGregor
Pitching Coach

Biography
McGregor returns for his second consecutive year with Aberdeen and his sixth in the Orioles farm system.
McGregor, a member of the Orioles' Hall of Fame, is best known among the Orioles' faithful for being the southpaw who tossed a five-hit shutout against the Philadelphia Phillies in Game 5 of the 1983 World Series to give the O's their third world championship. Coincidentally enough, the series ended when one future IronBird, McGregor, got Philadelphia's Garry Maddox to line out to another future IronBird, team owner Cal Ripken Jr.
He began his coaching career with Aberdeen in 2002, serving one year as the club's pitching coach before moving on to tutor the young arms of the Class-A Advanced Frederick Keys from 2003 to 2005. During the 2006 and 2007 seasons, he served as the pitching coach for the Class-AA Bowie Baysox. McGregor rejoined the IronBirds staff in 2008.
