Pitch for Pink

On Friday, July 11, the Clearwater Threshers are proud to host the latest installment of the Pitch for Pink Game at Bright House Field. The game on the field is only one of the memorable aspects of the night, as the Threshers partner with the local community to raise money and build awareness for breast cancer and those whom it affects. This year's event is jointly sponsored by the Threshers and the Morton Plant Mease Foundation.

Over the first eight years of Pitch for Pink, the Threshers have raised $200,000 for breast cancer research, treatment and awareness. This year, the team is joining forces with the hospitals of Morton Plant Mease.

"Not only is Pitch for Pink a financial help to the programs designed for those affected by breast cancer, but it gives those people a night where the community rallies around them and shows their support," says Threshers Manager of Promotions and Community Relations Amanda Koch.

Amanda has had her life touched by breast cancer, as the disease runs in her family. It's become a cause for her, and she has helped the Threshers build Pitch for Pink into a powerhouse to help others touched by breast cancer.

The night begins with a treat for the first 1,000 women to walk through the gate, who will receive a commemorative Pitch for Pink tote bag. A familiar and heartwarming moment will occur before the first pitch, when the Threshers invite survivors of breast cancer to take a pregame walk around the bases. It's a sight that has brought a tear of joy and pride to many eyes.

During the game, fans can participate in an auction to benefit the breast health services and programs of the hospitals of Morton Plant Mease. The Threshers will take the field against the Palm Beach Cardinals in special pink jerseys that will be auctioned off during the game. After the game, the jerseys will be autographed and given to the winning bidders. Other items will include gift certificates, spa packages, autographed pink bats, and more! Fans can also buy tickets for the Pink Balloon Raffle to win prizes valued at almost double the ticket price.

Fans have a special treat waiting after the game, as the Threshers will host an Old-School Concert! Come groove to some of the most memorable and downright fun acts of yesteryear, all in the name of improving the lives of those touched by breast cancer.

The Threshers would like to thank the sponsors and the local community for their fantastic continued support of Pitch for Pink. We're looking forward to another phenomenal edition of Pitch for Pink, and we can't do it without all your help!
