The Delmarva Shorebirds are proud to be one of three teams owned by 7th Inning Stretch, LLC, a Stockton,CA-based baseball ownership group, headed by Tom Volpe, the CEO of Dubai Group, a global investment company. 7th Inning Stretch was founded in 1999 when Volpe purchased the Visalia Oaks. The group moved its headquarters to Stockton when Volpe acquired the Stockton Ports in 2002. Ports President and General Manager Pat Filippone was added to the ownership group in July 2006, after serving as the CEO of the Fresno Grizzlies.

In November of 2006, 7th Inning Stretch purchased the Delmarva Shorebirds (Class A, Baltimore). The Shorebirds are based out of Salisbury, MD and play in the South Atlantic League.

In December 2008, the Everett AquaSox was welcomed to the 7th Inning Stretch family. The AquaSox are the Class A Short Season affiliate of the Seattle Mariners. The team is based in Everett, WA and play in the Northwest League.
