Community initiatives/programs

Rochester Community Baseball. Inc. staff members volunteer time, effort and resources to a variety of local community causes. In 2008 and 2009, the Red Wings supported a combined total of 681 different community events and activities, and provided mascots Spikes and Mittsy for 189 one-hour appearances.

Our annual October Community Service Staff Initiative allowed us to provide these volunteer services and activities in October 2009:
* guest readers at Eugenio Maria de Hostas Charter School, School #22, #33 and #39
* reading program at the Boys & Girls Club of Rochester
* Meals on Wheels lunch deliveries
* Serve dinner/lunch at Open Door Mission and Gleanors

In addition, we are proud to match up corporate sponsors with valuable community non-profit organizations and initiatives to provide recognition, marketing exposure and unique experiences. Here are a few examples:

Basch & Nickerson LLP Military Appreciation and season seats
Military involvement...4 Opening Day Packages (50 tickets each)...8 Season Seats (donated every night to Military members, families, etc)...Military Appreciation Night: Over 300 tickets donated to Military personnel. Special jerseys worn and silent auction to raise money for the Children of Fallen Soldiers Relief Fund. Click here to find out more.....

Cam's Pizzeria and the Mary Cariola Children's Center
Cam's Pizzeria and the Red Wings hosted pizza parties for students of the Mary Cariola Children's Center with Red Wings mascots Spikes and Mittsy and players Dustin Martin and Rob Delaney.

Challenger Baseball
The Red Wings host the Challenger Baseball World Series, which brings together boys and girls ages 6-18 who are mentally and/or physically challenged for a morning of baseball and fun.

Harter Secrest and the Boys and Girls Club of Rochester
The law firm Harter Secrest and the Red Wings provided two special outings for Boys and Girls Club members, including premium seats behind home plate, dinner at the ballpark and Red Wings caps for the guests. Click here to find out more...
