Luis Aguayo - Manager

Luis Aguayo begins his first season with the River Bandits after managing the Cardinals' advanced Class-A affiliate in Palm Beach the last two seasons. Palm Beach finished 68-70 in 2011 after a 75-65 season in 2010. Aguayo worked in the New York Mets organization from 2007 to 2009, including a four-month stint as their Major League third base coach. As a manager for seven minor league seasons, Aguayo has a career record of 312-341 (.478). In addition to working for the Mets and Cardinals, Aguayo worked for three seasons with the Cincinnati Reds after 11 seasons in the Boston Red Sox system. Aguayo is the 33rd manager since the Quad Cities franchise joined the Midwest League in 1960.

Aguayo debuted as a major league infielder at 21 years old and spent 10 seasons with the Philadelphia Phillies (1980-1988), New York Yankees (1988) and Cleveland Indians (1989). He posted a .236 career average in 568 career games.

Ace Adams - Pitching Coach

Ace Adams returns to the River Bandits as the pitching coach - a post he held in the Quad Cities in 2008 and 2009 - and begins his fifth season in the Cardinals organization. Adams spent the last two seasons as the pitching coach for the Class-A short-season affiliate Batavia Muckdogs. He has also coached in the Red Sox, Florida Marlins and Montreal Expos systems before joining the St. Louis organization. His shift to the professional ranks came following 13 years as a college coach at the University of Michigan, Brandeis, Harvard and Dartmouth.

Joe Kruzel - Hitting Coach

Joe Kruzel is back for his fifth season as the hitting coach of the River Bandits, a post he has held since joining the Cardinals system as a coach in 2008.

Prior to joining the Cardinals organization in 2008, Kruzel spent 2006 and 2007 coaching in the Cincinnati Reds system. He served as manager of the Reds' Pioneer League team in Billings, Mont., in 2007 after serving as the hitting coach for the Gulf Coast League Reds in 2006.

Before he joined the professional ranks, he coached at the college level for 16 seasons. He was an assistant at Miami (OH) University in 2005. For 15 seasons prior to that he served on the coaching staff at his alma mater, the University of Toledo. Kruzel played second base at Toledo from 1985-1988.
