ValleyCats Internship Program

An internship is one of the most important first steps to starting a career in the sports industry.

safe and clean environment."

Overview

The Tri-City ValleyCats, a Class A - Short Season Affiliate of the Houston Astros, are located in Troy,
NY. The team plays in the New York-Penn League, one of the oldest and most accomplished leagues
in baseball.


The Tri-City ValleyCats offer a challenging internship program that will educate participants and help
them to grow personally and professionally. Interns are given real-world job responsibilities and play
a vital role in creating a successful season. Although the ValleyCats are committed to hiring locally
some past interns have come from as far as Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Texas, Kansas, Alabama,
and North Carolina.


Professional Development & Special Events

The ValleyCats internship experience goes far beyond working at a ballpark. Special events for interns
include the Cat'athalon - an "Amazing Race" style event throughout the stadium, Staff vs Intern
Baseball game, guest speakers, and fieldtrips introducing interns to unique experiences, people, and
places in NY's Capital Region. Past trips have included: Cooperstown and the Baseball Hall of Fame,
NYPL All-Star Game, Saratoga Race Track, and other Minor League ballparks.

Twenty to twenty-five seasonal internships are offered in the following departments:

  • Food & Beverage
  • Media & Production

  • Sponsorship
  • Accounting
  • Administration

Duration of Employment and Compensation

The majority of internships run from mid-May to mid-September. The ValleyCats offer school credit
and/or a monthly or per game stipend. Stipends depend on position and experience.

The team will begin interviewing for positions as resumes are submitted. Due to the size of the candidate pool, not everyone who submits an application will be contacted.
