Jim Gabella - Manager

Jim Gabella returns as the Bees manager for his sixth season and seventh overall with the Royals. He joined the Kansas City organization in 2004 after serving as an area scout for the Cleveland Indians since 1997. The 2006 Royals Dick Howser Award winner, he began his coaching career as the head baseball coach at Broward Community College in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., from 1984-85 and served as an area scout for Milwaukee from 1985-88 where he was responsible for signing Gary Sheffield, Brian Schneider, and Jaime Navarro. He managed and coached in the Cleveland Indians system for six years from 1989-94. Gabella spent the 1995-96 seasons with the Montreal organization, and was named the New York-Penn League's Manager of the Year in 1995. Gabella played in the White Sox and Mariners organizations, as well as the independent Rocky Mount Pines League from 1976-80.

Gabella and his wife, Cindi, have one son, Cody, and reside in Burlington, Iowa.

Carlos Martinez - Pitching Coach

Carlos Martinez is in his first season as pitching coach for Burlington. He joins the club in relief of Jerry Nyman, who was with the Bees until early June when he received a transfer to Idaho Falls. Martinez was with the Chukars in 2009 after spending two years with the Surprise Royals. He served as a pitching coach for the Dominican Royals from 2003 to 2006. Martinez, a left-handed pitcher, played four seasons in the Royals minor leagues from 1997 to 2000 at Salcedo and Gulf Coast. He compiled a 13-8 record with a 4.03 ERA in his four minor league seasons.

Martinez and his wife, Maria, have a son, Matthew. They reside in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

Omar Ramirez - Hitting Coach

Hitting coach Omar Ramirez spends his second consecutive season in Burlington. Ramirez, a former Cleveland draft pick out of Hill Junior College in Texas, played outfield for eight seasons in the minors with the Indians and Astros before retiring following the 2001 season.

Born in Santiago, Dominican Republic, Ramirez now resides in Colinia del Valle, Mexico.

Mark Stubblefield - Athletic Trainer

After one year each in Burlington (NC) and High-A Wilmington, Mark Stubblefield returns to Burlington in 2010 after spending 2003-2006 as the Bees trainer. He joined the Royals organization as a trainer in Spokane in 2002 after spending the 2001 season as the Athletic Trainer for the Reds Gulf Coast League Club in Sarasota, Florida. Stubblefield was an athletic trainer intern for the Milwaukee Brewers system in 1999. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in athletic training from Indiana State in 2000 and his master's degree from California University of Pennsylvania in 2001. Stubblefield resides in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Keith Eichas - Strength & Conditioning Coach

Keith Eichas begins his second season with the Royals and first with the Bees. Eichas played collegiately at Temple College and was drafted in the 17th round by the Atlanta Braves in the 2003 amateur draft. He spent three seasons in the Braves organization before going back to school to receive his exercise and sport science degree from Texas State University in 2008. Eichas currently resides in Georgetown, Texas.
