Matt Rogers

Senior Director of Communications

 

Matt joined the Hooks as Director of Group Sales in December of 2005, coming to Corpus Christi from Houston, where for the previous eight seasons he worked as a sales and management executive for the Astros.

In October, 2006, he assumed the role of Communications Director. One of four front-office staff members with major league experience, Matt administers the Kleberg Bank College Classic and all other amateur games at Whataburger Field.

Matt spent his first two years in Houston as an account executive in group and season ticket sales before receiving a promotion to sales support manager in 2000. He was extensively involved in marketing, customer service, operations and special projects like the 2004 All Star Game and the annual Minute Maid College Classic.

A graduate of the University of Houston, Matt also worked as a publicist for 17 years in intercollegiate athletics at UH, Baylor, Sam Houston State and Georgia Southern. At GSU, he had the privilege of working with Division I-AA national championship football teams in 1989-90 and the 1990 Eagles baseball club, which won the NCAA Midwest Regional and advanced to the College World Series.

Matt is a deacon at First Baptist Church-Corpus Christi and has been married for 30 years to the former Jana Bowers of Irving. They have a married daughter, Jill, and son, Timothy. Matt and Jana became grandparents in April of 2006 with the birth of Jackson. Jill and husband James are graduates of Texas A&M.

Matt and Timothy enjoy following the Houston Cougars, Michigan Wolverines football and the Philadelphia Eagles. Timothy is a middle infielder at Gregory-Portland High School.
