2017 Hall of Fame Voting
Vote for three nominees from the final ballot of 11 listed below. The top three nominees with the most points at the end of voting will receive one fan vote each on the Hall of Fame Committee.
The 2017 Hall of Fame class will be announced at the Whitecaps Winter Baseball Banquet in January 2017.
When submitting your three votes, please list them in order with your top choice listed as number one.
Emil Brown ('95) - In 124 games, he led the Whitecaps in RBIs with 67 and stolen bases with 35 in 1995. Went on to play in ten Major Leagues season. 2005 was his best with 17 HRs and 86 RBIs, while hitting .286 with Kansas City.
Mike Quade ('96) - Led the Whitecaps to a 77 - 61 record and their first League Championship in 1996. Went on to coach and manage in the Major Leagues most recently for the Chicago Cubs in 2010 and 2011.
Calvin Chipperfield ('00) - Spent the 2000 season with the Whitecaps, amassing a 12-3 record with a 2.13 ERA and 151 strikeouts. Threw a no-hitter against Kane County on June 13, 2000. Spent five years in the Tigers Minor League system, playing as high as Double-A Erie.
Cody Ross ('00) - Hit .267 with 7 home runs and a team-leading 68 RBI for West Michigan in 2000. He was voted the 2010 NLCS MVP and played a total of 12 Major League seasons with eight different teams.
Juan Tejeda ('02) - Hit .300 with a Whitecaps season record 106 RBI and 34 doubles during the 2002 season. Spent five seasons in the Tigers Minor League system, playing as high as Double-A Erie, before spending three seasons with the Pirates, Mets, and Phillies organizations.
Phil Regan ('02-'03) - A native of Ostego, Michigan, he spent six seasons with the Tigers from 1960-1965. Began his coaching career as the head coach at Grand Valley State University from 1973-1982, and went on to manage the Baltimore Orioles in 1995 before managing the Whitecaps in 2002 and 2003.
Matt Joyce ('06) - Batted .258 with 11 HR, 30 2B, and led team with 86 RBI in one season with West Michigan in 2006. Currently in his 9th Major League Season with the Pittsburgh Pirates and was an All-Star in 2011.
Tom Brookens ('07) - In his one season as the Whitecaps manager he led the team to the 2007 Midwest League Championship. He went on to join the Tigers coaching staff from 2010-2013. Tom played 12 years in the Major Leagues, 10 with the Tigers, including the 1984 World Series Champions.
Gorkys Hernandez ('07) - Hit .293 with 50 RBI and a league-leading 54 SB on his way to being named 2007 WML All Star and MWL MVP. He went on to play in parts of two Major League seasons with the Pirates and Marlins.
Alex Avila ('08) - Joined the team after the 2008 draft. Hit .305 and had 22 RBIs in 58 games. Was a 2011 Major League All-Star and is an eight-year Major League veteran currently with the Chicago White Sox.
Avisail Garcia - Spent part of the '09 season and the '10 season with the Whitecaps. In 2010 he had 139 hits, 63 RBIs and 20 stolen bases. He is currently in his 5th Major League season and fourth with the Chicago White Sox.
