Louie the LumberKing returns for his 24th season of Midwest League baseball in 2017 as the mascot for the Clinton LumberKings. His LumberKings have reached the playoffs 11 of the last 13 years, and punched their ticket to the Midwest League Championship Series in 2016 before falling in four games, 3-1. A first-round pick by the Kings in the '94 Mascot Entry Draft out of Paul Bunyan University, Louie was proclaimed the "King of Midwest League Mascots" by popular fan vote in MSNBC's Minor League Logo contest in 2008 thanks to his newly-grown goatee and brand new gold crown. The son of Norwegian immigrants Olaf and Helga, Louie starred as the mascot for the PBU Log Jammers baseball team after seeing his baseball playing career shortened by a freak splinter accident. Louie went on to get a bachelor's degree in Crowd Entertainment at PBU in '94 and just recently graduated from the school's online Masters program in Advanced Mascot Theory.
