Rainiers in the Community

Educational Programs

All-Star Students

For the past four years, the Rainiers have been committed to giving back to schools through the All-Star Student Program. Reaching out to 5th grade classrooms around the South Sound, this program allows teachers the flexibility to reward their students. Within each classroom, the teacher can reward up to five students to be deemed All-Star Students for behavior, academics or however they feel fit. To help promote participation within all students, each child in participating classrooms receives a souvenir. The Rainiers also recognize the All-Star Students and their achievements at a game designated especially for All-Star Students.

BIGs

The Rainiers are teaming up with Communities in Schools to promote the importance of staying in school and staying focused. BIGs stands for 'Believe in Goals' and is being implemented in the Tacoma Public Schools. An awards banquet will be held at Cheney Stadium to honor the students who have taken steps to achieve their goals.

Public Appearances

Rhubarb Appearances

Looking for a little excitement in your next school assembly, birthday party or office meeting? Rhubarb can handle that! Nothing draws attention quite like a 7-foot reindeer. He keeps busy all year round making appearances at fairs, expos, school functions, charity walks and all sorts of fun activities.

Player Appearances

As recipients of the 2010 John Ellis Award, the Rainiers understand the importance of giving back. Players have made their way into the community by speaking at school assemblies about motivation, working hard and staying in school. They have also had some fun at the local Boys and Girls Clubs playing games with the kids and visiting Mary Bridge Children's Hospital to lift the spirits of kids and families who are in the hospital.

Speaking Engagements

Are you planning a special event or meeting and looking for someone new and exciting to be a guest speaker at no cost? Well guess what, the Rainiers have just the person. The Tacoma Rainiers are spreading the word about exciting new things happening with Rainiers baseball. Learn about Cheney Stadium, the Rainiers team, careers in sports and even Rhubarb. Our staff is available to speak at your civic organizations, chamber meetings, schools, career fairs or special events. Speeches and presentations can even be customized to meet your group's needs.

Contact: To schedule Rhubarb, a player or a speaker, contact Nicole Strunks at (253)761-5624 or at nstrunks@tacomarainiers.com.

After a highly successful tournament in 2011, the Tacoma Rainiers will continue hosting the club's annual charity golf tournament benefiting Mary Bridge Children's Hospital, an entity of MultiCare. Join the Rainiers players, coaches and front office staff on the links again in 2012!

Jersey Auctions

Volunteer Opportunities

Year round, front office employees donate their time by volunteering on community boards and once-a-month volunteer opportunities. Members of the front office have volunteered at the local YWCA, Mary Bridge Children's Hospital, charity walks and more!

Ticket Programs

Kids Night Out

Red, White and Blue Program
