Is your class Ahead of the Curve?

Sports can be a game-changer for many students, especially when it's incorporated in the classroom. It gives kids who are otherwise disinterested a reason to be excited about science, math, history and language arts.

At the Indians, we know that the most creative teachers are often times the best at reaching kids and inspiring their interests.

We want to find teachers who use sports creatively to teach their lesson plans.

The winning teacher will be awarded the chance for his or her class to attend a 2012 Indians Baseball In Education game, will receive an authentic Indians jersey and will throw out a ceremonial first pitch at that game.

How to Enter

• Anyone can nominate a teacher for this award, including the teacher him or herself
• Please submit an essay no longer than 500 words demonstrating how the teacher has creatively incorporated sports into the classroom
• Include contact information for the person submitting the essay, the teacher and the principal at the school

Winners receive

• Up to 35 tickets for their choice of one of four Baseball In Education games in 2012



• The chance to throw the first pitch at a Baseball In Education game



• An authentic Indians Jersey
