If the Weather is Questionable for Today's Game, what should I do??
If it is raining before the game...
First, it is helpful to keep in mind there are many instances when it may be raining in some parts of Northwest Arkansas but it may not be raining here at Arvest Ballpark.
If it is raining at Arvest Ballpark anytime before the start of a game, the Naturals grounds crew is hard at work protecting the field against the elements. Because of this, if the rain stops before the game's scheduled start time the game will continue as planned, with a short delay for field prep if the rain continues to within an hour of the scheduled game time. If the rain continues into the scheduled game time, Naturals management and the umpires are likely to invoke a rain delay.
If it begins to rain during the game...
If it begins to rain during the game, Naturals grounds crew and staff will quickly cover the infield with a large tarp. At that time, game officials (including team officials and the Texas League umpires assigned to work the particular series) will ascertain the immediate weather outlook. If game officials feel that the inclement weather will pass, the game may be placed into a rain delay. If game officials feel that the inclement weather will not pass in a reasonable amount of time, and no window exists with which to play the game, an official rainout/postponement is announced.
Naturals' Rainout Ticket Policy
In the event that five innings of a game are not completed (except when the home team is in the lead at the end of 4 1/2 innings), your ticket will be good for any regular season game that season and may be exchanged at the Arvest Ballpark ticket office for another game ticket of equal or lesser value subject to availability.
Note: If a game is called due to inclement weather or other circumstances after five innings have been played, a game is considered "official." In this case, there will be no ticket exchanges.
You can always call our office at (479) 927-4900 anytime on a gameday and we will update you on the most up-to-date weather conditions at Arvest Ballpark. Any postponement (rainout) is always posted as the lead story item on nwanaturals.com within minutes of a game being rained out (cancelled). Information concerning postponements or rainouts is also made available to local media outlets.
**If information regarding a cancellation is not posted to the website, it is safe to assume the game is either on as scheduled or in a rain delay.
Naturals Rain Policy Terminology
A game that is under a rain delay is in an official delay but will resume play later that day/evening. Tickets cannot be exchanged in the event of a rain delay.
A game that is rained out or postponed will not be played that day due to inclement weather. In the event of a rainout or postponement, your ticket will be good as a rain check for exchange for an equal value ticket to any regular season game (subject to availability) that season and may be exchanged at the Arvest Ballpark ticket office.
