Independence Eve 2016
Our American Pastime...
Thank you to the wonderful crowd of 17,112 that came out to Coca-Cola Field on a picturesque night on Friday, JuLy 3, 2015 for the 21st Annual KeyBank Independence Eve Celebration with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus.
It was a tremendous night from start to finish. Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown and Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz declared July 3, 2015 "The Maestro Paul Ferington Day" in the City of Buffalo in special pre-game ceremonies, honoring the man that has lead the BPO for 30 years and this event for the past 18.
The Bisons then took the field and triumphed in a 8-4 victory over their rival, the Syracuse Chiefs. The bullpen retired 13 straight batters and the offense kept the fans cheering by scoring in four consecutive innings. Herd outfielder Alex Hassan finished just a home run away from the cycle!
The Maestro then took the stage, delighting the near-sold out crowd with great cultural tributes to Frank Sinatra, Jaws, Frozen and The Sound of Musical, as well as patriotic marches that got fans ready for the Independence Holiday weekend. As always, the crowd responded to the Armed Forces Salute, honoring the heroes of each bran of the US military during the medley and then our great country with a hearty "USA, USA, USA" chant when the song concluded.
Of course, no July 3rd would be complete without a tremendous Fireworks Show, and the Bisons lit up the sky with a fantastic barrages of pyrotechnics to cap of an amazing night.
July 3, 2015 will go down as one of the best installments of this great ballpark event. We look forward to setting the bar even higher next year...We'll see you for the 22nd KeyBank Independence Eve Celebration with the BPO and Chorus on Sunday, July 3, 2016!!!

For 18 seasons, no one brought their 'A game' to the biggest night at Coca-Cola Field like conductor Paul Ferington of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra. This year, after what was one last amazing performance leading the BPO and Chorus at the Bisons' KeyBank Independence Eve Celebration, the Maestro hung up his 'BPO' jersey and conductor's wand.
READ why Ferington chose the Bisons July 3rd show as his final concert in his 30-year career with the BPO.
See you Sunday, July 3, 2016!!!
