Grounds Crew Internship - Birmingham Barons (Birmingham, AL)

Position Summary:

The Barons are looking for a candidate to serve as grounds crew intern during the 2013 season. This person will be expected to help maintain the playing field at Regions Field to a professional standard. Throughout the process, the candidate will gain invaluable knowledge and experience. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Work in close communication with the head groundskeeper and other members of the grounds crew
• Maintaining skinned, home plate and mound areas to a professional standard
• Tarp duties
• Long hours including weekends and holidays
• Assisting with the application of fertilizers, herbicides and fungicides
• Assisting in overall field maintenance

Qualifications:

• Prior athletic turf experience preferred
• Turf management educational experience preffered
