2017 is Chris's seventh season in baseball and his third as a member of the West Virginia Power front office. Chris oversees the day-to-day maintenance of the playing surface for the Power and assists in the operation of the stadium.

Chris started in baseball in 2011 as an Assistant Groundskeeper for the Lake County Captains, Class-A affiliate for the Cleveland Indians, where he worked for two full seasons. Chris then obtained his first Head Groundskeeper position in 2013 with the Clinton LumberKings, a Class-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners, in Clinton, Iowa. Chris then moved back to Ohio in 2014 to serve as the Head Groundskeeper/Assistant Director of Stadium Operations for the Mahoning Valley Scrappers. Chris was awarded the Sports Turf Manager-of-the-Year Award for the New York-Penn League.

Chris is originally from Eastlake, Ohio, and attended Lake Erie College in Painesville, Ohio, where he double majored in History and Spanish. He is currently working towards a Sports Turf Management Certificate from The Ohio State University. Chris is also a national member of the Sports Turf Managers Association (STMA) and the West Virginia Golf Course Superintendents Association (WVGCSA).

What is your favorite baseball memory?

About a week into my first season as a Head Groundskeeper, the Mississippi river was extremely high and we got 5 inches of rain in an hour. This caused all storm drains on the concourse (which is field-level in Clinton) to overflow, and I had fish swimming on my warning track. Literally.
