Rain Delays/Rainouts

Bisons Rainouts

Here's hoping this is the least visited page on Bisons.com. However, we do play baseball in Buffalo, where the weather can change in an instant. Here are the important polices, many mandated by the International League, regarding inclement weather at Coca-Cola Field.

As always, if you have additional questions, please feel free to contact the Bisons at (716) THE-HERD (843-4373) or by emailing info@bisons.com.

The absolute best way to know the status of a Bisons game during days of inclement weather is to follow the Bisons on twitter (@BuffaloBisons) and facebook (facebook.com/BuffaloBisons). We will provide updates throughout those days.

Rain
Rain Delays/Umbrellas

The International League umpire-in-chief shall be the sole judge as to when play shall be suspended during a game because of unsuitable weather conditions, as well as when a game will be resumed or terminated after such suspension begins. An umpire must wait a minimum of 45 minutes after a suspension begins before making a determination on postponement or termination. A rain delay may continue as long as the umpire believes there is any chance to resume play.

Umbrellas ARE permitted inside Coca-Cola Field. However, they may only be deployed while the game is officially in a rain delay. If you open an umbrella during game action, you will be asked by an usher to close it.

Postponed Games/Rainouts

There are basically two types of cancellations of Bisons games due to adverse weather conditions:

Game in progress postponed
If this occurs while you are at the ballpark, keep your ticket stub and redeem it at the ticket office for a future game subject to availability and excluding special events. Please be advised, this transaction does not have to take place on the day the game is postponed. By International League rules, five innings (or four and a half innings if the home team is leading the game) constitutes a complete game and no ticket refunds or rain checks will be issued. In the event a doubleheader is postponed after five innings of game one have been completed, it will be considered a complete game. No refunds or rain checks will be issued.

Game postponed before gates open
If this occurs, keep your whole ticket and exchange it at the ticket office for a future 2017 game of your choice, subject to availability and excluding special events.

*Please be advised the International League President governs the rescheduling of postponed games and, in most cases, the game will be replayed on the next available date. The umpires make the sole determination to postpone a game that has started and can only do so after waiting a minimum of 45 minutes from the time the game was halted. During an opponent's last trip to a city, the umpires make the sole determination to postpone a game, even if it hasn't started.

It's not all bad news...

Just because we can't play on the field, doesn't mean you can't play indoors!

If the Bisons have a rainout in 2017, make sure you take your game ticket to your favorite Bounce Magic location! Not only can you jump, slide and bounce in the largest indoor inflatable play area in Western New York, your Play Pass is HALF OFF when you present your rainout ticket.

Bounce Magic has two locations, 4255 McKinley Parkway in Hamburg and 4090 Maple Rd. in Amherst. For more information, visit BounceMagic.com.

2017 Postponed Games/Doubleheaders

Let's Play TwoWe don't want to have to add anything to this chart! But in case a Bisons' game at Coca-Cola Field does rain out, here's where you can get up-to-date information on when games will be made up.

Generally, all doubleheaders played at Coca-Cola Field are two, seven-inning contests. After the conclusion of a first game of a doubleheader, there is approximately a 30-minute break before the start of game two. When known, the exact start time will be announced to the crowd via public address.

Unless otherwise noted, all Bisons home doubleheaders are Single-Admission Doubleheaders. That means there is no exit/re-entry and a ticket of the date of a doubleheader is good for admission to both games.

As always, all Bisons' games and times are subject to change.
