Street Team Events

The Salem-Keizer Volcanoes are committed to being family and community-oriented through events and storytelling. Stories are told on and off the field to acknowledge the amazing people and activities that take place in the local community.

ONG Hoopla

The Volcanoes Street Team was at the Northwest's largest 3-on-3 basketball tournament from August 6-9, 2015. This year's event was record-breaking as it saw 852 teams compete their hearts out for hoop glory. Crater participated in the 1st annual Free Kids Clinic Slam Dunk Contest and judged the Salem Radiology Consultants Slam Dunk Contest. Division-winning teams received tickets to the August 10th Volcanoes game and were celebrated on the field before the game.

Salem Rotary Golf Tournament

In preparation for Rotary Night and Golf Night at Volcanoes Stadium, Crater and the Volcanoes Street Team connected with various people at the Salem Rotary Golf Tournament. Crater also had the chance to putt a few golf balls and interact with the golfers.

Salem First Baptist Summer Sports Camp

On Tuesday, July 14, Volcanoes players Jarret Leverett, Shilo McCall, and Brad Moss headed to the First Baptist Church Summer Sports Camp to talk about their faith with the kids. Crater also made an appearance and played sharks and minnows, shot some hoops, and even danced with the campers. The summer camp is designed specifically for campers to learn more about a sport of their choice in an environment where faith is heavily integrated. As the players shared how their faith personally impacted their lives on and off the field, the campers were able to connect to the Volcanoes and create an idea of what it looks like to be an athlete who lives for Christ.

Keizer Little League Kick-Off

At the beginning of the 2015 baseball season, Crater and the Volcanoes Street Team helped kick off the Keizer Little League season. There were plenty of high-fives all around as the teams were introduced to the community.

Salem Boys and Girls Club

The Volcanoes Street Team came out to the Salem Boys and Girls Club Volleyball and Football Tournaments on June 6 with Crater. Kids, between the ages of six and 14, participated in games while their families and friends enjoyed the sunny weekend. The Street Team provided information about Youth Sports Night, where kids 12 and under get in for free and have a chance to meet the players on the field before the Volcanoes game. On June 16, the Street Team and Crater returned to the Boys and Girls Club to shoot hoops with the kids and to have Crater sign autographs.

West Salem, Sprague, Keizer, South Salem, and Parrish Little Leagues

During the little league season, various local teams participated in tournaments around the area. The Volcanoes Street Team and Crater made appearances to show support for youth sports at West Salem, Sprague, Keizer, South Salem and Parrish Little Leagues.

Adam's BBQ

The Volcanoes Street Team made an appearance with Crater at Adam's BBQ Car Show on June 13. Members of the community gathered on State Street to enjoy the barbecue food and look at the classic cars. Crater was popular in the children's area, where he played carnival games and ate popcorn. He even sat in one of the cars on display. The Street Team was providing information about the various promotions offered at Volcanoes Stadium.

Cancer Awareness Softball Tournament

The Volcanoes Street Team and Crater went out to Wallace Marine Park to show support at the Cancer Awareness Softball Tournament in Salem. 53 teams participated, and each team involved in the tournament raised money to benefit Play for a Cure Oregon. Crater threw some fastballs at the Volcanoes pitching machine and interacted with kids on the playground. In 2014, the three-tournament fundraiser brought in $8,500.

Brew Fest

The 11th annual Brew Fest took place on Father's Day weekend at the @OregonGarden and the Volcanoes Street Team joined in the festivities. 68 breweries were at the Garden, pouring 136 different brews. 12 different regional bands played on two stages at the Garden, and the Street Team connected with different breweries and community members throughout the day.

Willamette University Fundraiser

Willamette University Night is coming up at Volcanoes Stadium. The university is selling tickets for the August 29 home game, where the San Francisco Giant's 2014 World Series trophy will be at the stadium. The Volcanoes Street Team went out to Willamette on June 12 to provide information about the game and the fundraiser.
