Boise Hawks Unveil Humphrey's Reading Program

Over 9,000 Students Participating in 2016, thanks to St. Luke's Hospital

BOISE, ID: The Boise Hawks, Single-A Affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, and their mascot - Humphrey -

have announced the details for their inaugural Reading Program. Humphrey, along with the Hawks'

staff, are assisting children grades kindergarten through sixth throughout the Treasure Valley in hitting

home runs for reading.

"Our front office is proud to partner with the local school districts and to receive such a great response

by so many individual schools who want to support reading initiative for its students has been

overwhelming," said Hawks' General Manager Bob Flannery. "We are excited to have St. Luke's Hospital

as a Founding Partner with this initiative as well," said Flannery.

Over 9,000 students from the Boise, West Ada, Nampa, Caldwell, and Payette School Districts have

signed up for this first year program. Humphrey's Reading Program began in late February and will be

completed at the end of May. At the end of the program, teachers will provide the Hawks with a list of

"Home Run Hitters" who have completed the program, and they will receive a complimentary ticket to

Boise Hawks' home game in June and participate in a pre-game parade on the field.
