Country Legends Race

In 2016, the Nashville Sounds introduced a new baseball tradition to take place in the middle of the 5th inning at every home game: The Country Legends Race.

Reba wins the inaugural race

The contestants are none other than country legends Johnny Cash, Reba McEntire, and George Jones.

In the inaugural running of the legends on Opening Day, April 7, 2016, Reba took first place with a fancy finish at the tape.

Attend a Sounds game at First Tennessee Park and watch the footrace on the field from the visitors' bullpen to the dugout.

Be sure to cheer on your favorite to hear a classic tune from his/her legendary music catalog after the race.

Johnny Cash finished with the most wins (16) at the end of the regular racing season to earn a bye in the Quest For The Crown postseason racing bracket. After Tuesday night's win over George in the semi-finals, Reba went on to battle it out over Johnny in the finals on Wednesday to win the coveted Country Legends crown!
