RailRiders University

Train Where the Pros Train. Join the Pros this Winter as they host a series of training camps at PNC Field; home of your Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders. Have the chance to use our premium indoor facilities to improve in all areas of your game and get tips from the players who have learned the best techniques. There will be three areas of professional coach training this winter including hitting, pitching and catching. Don't miss out on this great opportunity to learn from some of the best coaches and players (both past and current) in the league.

There are still spots open for the Winter sessions at PNC Field. Sessions are tailored to different positions, Hitting, Pitching and Catching. All sessions are available for both baseball and softball and for all age groups.

Meet the Trainers

Russ Canzler Hitting Trainer
Russ Canzler Russ is a Hazelton Area graduate who played 12 years of Professional Baseball, including time in the majors with the Cleveland Indians and the Tampa Bay Rays. He is a four time All-Star and the 2011 International League MVP.

Joe McCarthy Hitting Trainer
Joe McCarthy Joe went to school at the University of Virginia where he was drafted in the 5th round of the 2015 MLB Draft by the Tampa Bay Rays. He is currently playing with Tampa's High-A affiliate, the Charlotte Stone Crabs.

Mike Bartoletti Hitting Trainer
Mike Bartoletti Mike is the Head Coach of the University of Scranton Baseball team. Jacob is the Assistant Coach at East Stroudsburg Universtiy and he played with the River City Rascals of the Frontier Independent League.

Gary Ruby Pitching Trainer
Gary Ruby Gary is the Pitching Advisor for the Houston Astros and the 2013 Texas League Coach of the Year. He spent time as the Pitching Coach for the Corpus Christi Hooks, and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Red Barons, he was the Pitching Coordinator for the Pittsburgh Pirates and is the former Minor League Director of Player Personnel for the Philadelphia Phillies.

Matt Wotherspoon Pitching Trainer
Matt Wotherspoon Matt was born in Mountain Top, PA and graduated Crestwood High School. Matt was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in 2013 from the University of Pittsburgh. He currently plays in the New York Yankees organization for the AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders.

Kyle McMyne Pitching Trainer
Kyle McMyne Kyle was a pitcher for Villanova University in the Big East Conference and is now playing for the Cincinnati Reds' AA Affiliate, Pensacola Blue Wahoos.

Max Kranick Pitching Trainer
Max Kranick Max graduated from Valley View High School and was an 11th round draft choice for the Pittsburgh Pirates. He currently plays with the Gulf Coast League Pirates.

Eddy Rodriguez Catching Trainer
Eddy Rodriguez Eddy was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in 2006, he signed as a Free Agent with the San Diego Padres in 2011 where he spent 2 seasons. In January of 2014 Eddy Joined the Tampa Bay Rays organization and in May of that year joined the Boston Red Sox. Eddy has since been playing in the New York Yankees organization with their AAA Affiliate, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders.

Mike Guy Catching Trainer
Mike Guy Mike is the Assistant Coach at the University of Scranton. He played for Salem Community College and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Division I baseball in the MEAC Conference.

February 1st, 6th, 8th, 13th & 15th
Times:
5:00pm to 6:30pm (Ages 8-12)
6:30pm to 8:00pm (Ages 13-17)
* 5 Players to 1 Trainer

Session B:
January 10th, 12th, 17th, 19th, 24th, 26th & 31st
February 2nd, 7th, 9th, 14th & 16th
Times:
5:00pm to 6:30pm (Ages 8-12)
6:30pm to 8:00pm (Ages 13-17)
