The Altoona Curve have partnered with Sheetz to welcome country stars Sawyer Brown and Phil Vassar for a concert at Peoples Natural Gas Field on Saturday, Sept. 23.

The event marks the first major concert at Peoples Natural Gas Field in a decade and kicks off the Curve's year-long celebration of their 20 seasons of professional baseball in Altoona.

"Twenty years of Curve baseball in Altoona is a very big milestone for us, our fans and our community," Curve general manager Derek Martin said. "We are excited to have the opportunity to bring back a major concert to Peoples Natural Gas Field. Bringing in Sawyer Brown and Phil Vassar is extra special. Like many in our area, I grew up listening to both artists, and they have given us some of the most popular songs in country music.

"Since I took over as general manager in October, the most common suggestion we have heard from our local community is that they would like to see a concert at the ballpark again. Thanks to our friends at Sheetz and our other sponsors, we can kick off our 20th anniversary celebration with a bang."

Tickets are on sale now. A limited number of general admission Field Passes will be available for purchase at $30. Stadium Reserved Seating tickets will be available for $25.

Anyone with a MySheetz Card® will be able to purchase Stadium Reserved tickets for only $20. Cardholders just need to show their card at the ticket office when making their purchase. Fans can sign up for a MySheetz Card at any Sheetz store location.

"Our partnership with the Altoona Curve goes back two decades to the team's very beginnings," said Sheetz AVP of Brand Strategies Ryan Sheetz. "Since 1952, we at Sheetz have worked to give customers what they want, how they want it and when they want it. We know fans have looked forward to concerts at the ballpark for quite some time and we are proud to team up with the Curve to make it happen."

The gates to the ballpark on Sept. 23 will open at 5:30 p.m. and the concert will start at 6:30 p.m.

"Since Day One in 1999, Sheetz has been a fantastic partner with us and the staff has been fantastic to work with," Martin said. "Our region is very lucky to have a company like Sheetz in our backyard with the commitment they show to our community."

Curve Season Ticket holders, luxury suite holders, Mini Plan holders and sponsors can take advantage of a special $5 discount on Field Passes or Stadium Reserve Seating as a token of the Curve's appreciation of their dedicated partnership.

Sawyer Brown has been a staple in the country music scene since the early 1980s, with 23 albums, more than 50 charted singles and multiple CMA, ACM and CMT awards. They have climbed to the top of the country music charts with hit songs including "Some Girls Do," "Thank God for You," "Step That Step," and a remake of the George Jones hit, "The Race is On." The band has established themselves as one of the most successful and long-running acts on the country music scene.

As a singer/songwriter, Phil Vassar has hit the Top 5 seven times with songs like "Carlene," "Last Day of My Life" and "American Child" and topped the charts with "In a Real Life" and the perennial favorite "Just Another Day in Paradise." Known as one of Nashville's top tunesmiths, he has written chart-topping hits for Tim McGraw, Alan Jackson, David Nail, Colin Raye and Jo Dee Messina. Throughout his career, Vassar has seen the release of eight albums, two ASCAP Songwriter of the Year trophies, been named Billboard Country Songwriter of the Year and more.

"Here in my first year as general manager, I was looking for a signature event to bring to Peoples Natural Gas Field, and the idea of a concert was music to our ears," Martin said. "I was involved in every concert we hosted in my previous years with the Curve, but this will be extra special to me."

On-site parking at the ballpark for the concert will be available for $5. Curve Season Ticket Holders, luxury suite holders, Mini Plan holders and sponsors will be able to pre-purchase parking.
