Emeralds Host Family Program

Looking for a way to get more involved with the Emeralds? Do you want the chance to say you once hosted a major league baseball player? Open your home to a Chicago Cubs prospect and become part of the 2018 Eugene Emerald's Host Family Program.

The Eugene Emeralds are launching a new Host Family Program to start in the 2018 season and we are taking applications for baseball fans who might be interested in housing a member of the Emeralds. Hosting a minor league player can be a very rewarding experience for both parties. Often times these living arrangements generate lifetime friendships.

Host families share their homes with Ems players from June to September. While the players will spend much of their time at PK Park and on the road, a home away from home is a nice comfort for them. The Emeralds believe that the players will come into your home and go away with your hearts. Many host families stay in touch with their players long after the season is over.

Host families need to live within ten miles of the stadium and have a spare room and bathroom for the player to use. If you host two players, they need separate bedrooms but can share a bathroom. The majority of the players will not have transportation so you will be responsible for getting them to and from PK Park. Once the roster is set, the players usually can set up carpools with those players who do have vehicles if transportation is an issue.

Hosting players is an all encompassing activity for the summer. You host because you love the game, the players and want to help them as they move up in the system toward their dream of making it in the big leagues. The hosts make their own set of house rules, of course.

There is NO financial reimbursement for hosting players. You do it because you love the game and want to help the players and get the chance to experience the day to day trials and tribulations of a minor league ballplayer!! Definitely an opportunity few people will ever have.
