Chiefs Announce 2018 Promotional Schedule!

The Peoria Chiefs have announced their 2018 promotional schedule which features a franchise-record 25 post-game Fireworks shows, three bobble heads, seven specialty jerseys, 14 nights with special guest appearances and numerous theme nights and giveaways. Season tickets and group tickets are currently available at Dozer Park or online at Individual game tickets will go on sale as the season approaches and the specific date/time will be announced at a later date.      The first of 25 Fireworks shows comes on Opening Night, April 7 as the Chiefs host Burlington at 6:30 p.m. Beginning in May, every Friday and Saturday home game includes a post-game fireworks show with Saturday games at 6:30 p.m. and Friday's at 6:30 p.m. in May and 7:00 p.m. in June, July and August. That provides nine Friday shows (May 4, May 18, June 8, June 22, July 13, July 27, August 3, August 24 and August 31) and nine Saturday shows (April 7, May 5, May 19, June 9, June 23, July 14, August 4, August 11, August 25).

    In addition to the Friday and Saturday games there are seven other fireworks nights scheduled. Six of those are on Thursday games (May 31, June 14, June 21, July 12, July 26 and August 2) while one is on Wednesday, June 27. Fans get the chance to watch fireworks on back-to-back home games five times this season while June 21-23, July 12-14 and August 2-4 provide three straight nights of pyrotechnics.

    Once again the Chiefs are home on the Fourth of July with a 5:30 p.m. start against Burlington. Fans are invited to stay at Dozer Park after the Wednesday night tilt for a fantastic view of the downtown Peoria Fireworks show over the Illinois River.



    The Chiefs will give away three bobbleheads in 2018 and all feature former Peoria Chiefs who debuted with the St. Louis Cardinals in 2017. The first bobblehead will feature 2015 Chiefs outfielder Harrison Bader and will be given away on the first 1000 fans 13 and older on Friday, May 4 as part of May the Fourth Be With You Night. On Saturday, June 9, the first 1000 fans 13 and older get a Paul DeJong bobblehead as part of Illinois State Night. After starring at ISU, DeJong was drafted by the Cardinals in 2015 and played third base for the Chiefs that season during their first playoff run in six years. The third bobblehead also comes from the Chiefs 2015 season and features RHP Jack Flaherty for a June 27 give away to the first 1000 fans 13 and over as part of Batman Night. All three players were part of the Chiefs 2015 playoff run, all three debuted in the Majors last summer and are expected to be key contributors to the Cardinals in 2018.




     In addition to the three bobbleheads, there are 11 other giveaways scheduled for 2018. Opening Night, April 7 includes a Magnet Schedule giveaway for all fans. The first 1000 kids 12 and under get a Youth Chiefs Dri-Fit Shirt on Friday, May 18 while the first 1000 fans 13 and over get an Adult Chiefs Dri-Fit shirt on Sunday, June 10. There will be two hat giveaways for the first 1000 fans 13 and over with a Chiefs Camo hat on May 19 and a Chiefs Trucker hat on August 25. There will be two Helicopter Drops for kids 12 and under in 2018 with kids able to get Matchbox Cars on June 24 and Candy on July 15 in the outfield post-game. The first 1000 fans 21 and over get a Chiefs Growler on July 26 as part of Distillers Night. On June 23 the Chiefs will honor local kids who are fighting cancer by putting them on their own Baseball Card and giving away the card sets to the first 1000 fans through the gate as part of St. Jude Night. The first 1000 fans 13 and over on July 14 get a Chiefs Buffett shirt as part of Jimmy Buffett Night and there will also be a TBA gift for fans on Fan Appreciation Night, August 31.



     Once again in 2018, VIP appearances and fan favorites play a big role in the Chiefs promotional schedule. The first appearance comes on Friday, May 18 with Iron Man and Captain America coming to Dozer Park for Super Hero/Avengers Night. Batman Night is on June 27 with appearances by Batman, Alfred and Batgirl while SuperHero Night is slated for August 11 with appearances by Wonder Woman, Spider Man, Wolverine and Aquaman. On Friday June 8, the Dueling Pianos make their annual appearance on the Dozer Park dugouts and this year they will be joined by Fredbird, the St. Louis Cardinals mascot. There will be appearances by Princesses on Sunday, June 10 and Sunday, August 5 with two Princess Days in 2018 plus Sunday, July 15 is Princess & Pirates Night with appearances by both Princesses and Pirates. PBS Nights return to Dozer Park in 2018 with Daniel Tiger attending both the June 24 and June 25 games while Bob the Builder will be at the Saturday, August 4 game. Friday, August 3 is Nick Jr. Night featuring Paw Patrol with Chase and Marshall. Friday, June 22 is Star Wars Night II with characters from the 501st Midwest Garrison returning to Dozer Park. The next night, Saturday, June 23 is the annual Faith & Family post-game concert with the act to be announced at a later date. In addition to Daniel Tiger being at the game on Monday, June 25 he will be joined by Santa Claus as part of Christmas in June.


Theme Nights

     While some theme nights are always added in season to reflect current events, the 2018 schedule is set with nearly half the games accounted for. After Opening Weekend, the Chiefs remain home for a nine-game homestand that includes DARE Day (April 10) and Friday the 13th/Halloween Night (April 13). The final weekend of April includes Wizard of Oz Night on April 21. May kicks off with a May 2 Education Day 11:00 am start followed by May The Fourth Be With You Night (May 4) complete with Star Wars themed Han Solo jerseys. The first weekend in May also includes Cinco de Mayo/Kentucky Derby Night (May 5) with the race on the video board. The final two Education Day games are May 15 and May 16 with 11:00 a.m. starts. As mentioned above May 18 is Super Hero/Avengers Night followed by Armed Forces Night on May 19 and Teacher Appreciation Night on May 31.

     June starts with Illinois State Night on June 9, Princess Day on June 10 and a Business Person's Special for the Noon game on June 11. For the first time ever the Chiefs will host Game of Thrones Night on June 14 and also debut Seinfeld Night on June 21. The second Star Wars Night of the season is on June 22 with the specialty Han Solo jersey auction. The final homestand of June also brings Faith & Family Night (June 23), Christmas in June (June 25), the first Splash Day (June 26, 11:00 a.m. start) and First Responders/Batman Night (June 27).

     July starts with a Salute to USA on July 4 featuring a military/USA themed jerseys auction. The second homestand of the month brings back two fan favorites with Harry Potter Night (July 13) and Jimmy Buffett Night (July 14). This year the Chiefs are adding a special Harry Potter jersey for the players to wear and the auction will be on the 13th while the players will again wear special auctioned jerseys on Buffett Night. That weekend series is capped off with Princess & Pirates Day on Sunday, July 15 and the second Splash Day with an 11:00 a.m. start on July 16. The final series of the month is designated as Peoria Distillers series with the team changing names and identities for the second straight year. Against the Brewers affiliate from Wisconsin, the Distillers will wear special hats and jerseys for all three games July 25-27. The final game of that series on the 27th is also Bradley University Night at Dozer Park.

     August 3 brings Nick Jr. Night featuring Paw Patrol with Chase and Marshall plus special Paw Patrol jerseys to be auctioned after the game. August 4 is Family Outdoor Night where families can camp out at Dozer Park after the game and August 5 is the final Princess Day of the season. The second homestand features Superhero Night on August 11 with Jurassic Park Day and Back to School Day on August 12. The final homestand of the regular season starts on August 24 with Hockey Night and also includes Pete Vonachen Night on August 25. The last series against Kane County brings a Salute to Bacon Night on August 30 and Fan Appreciation Night on August 31.

    In addition to the specialty jersey auctions listed above, the Chiefs will again wear baby blue Cardinals throwback jerseys for every Sunday home game. Those jerseys will be auctioned at the final regular season Sunday home game on August 26.
