Use the hot/cold zones to find the pitch locations in which the current batter and pitcher perform their best, and where they struggle. The strike zone is divided into nine regions and balls are grouped into four regions, with each zone color-coded to indicate whether the batter or pitcher is hot or cold in that zone. Red and pink zones show where the batter outperforms his season OPS (or where the pitcher betters his season OPS allowed), and the light and dark blue zones show where the batter underperforms his season OPS (or where the pitcher is worse than his season OPS allowed).
In addition, the hot/cold zone displays can be filtered by splits according to pitch types faced or thrown, ball/strike count, number of outs, baserunners, and vs. left/right. Choosing a particular split not only updates the statistics, it also gives you a detailed look at the hot/cold zones for that particular situation. For example, you can see that a particular hitter loves to hit changeups low and inside, but struggles against the fastball in the same zone - or you can see if a pitcher tends to work down in the zone with runners in scoring position.

Use the pitcher tendencies dashboard to get an overview of the pitcher's performance throughout the game and compared to his previous outtings. Using Pitch-f/x data, we determine the velocity, pitch type, movement, and release point for every pitch and track the changes in these values over time, so you can tell if a pitcher is losing bite on his slider, throwing harder to get through one more inning, relying more on off-speed pitches as the game goes on, or dropping his arm angle as he fatigues.
Velocity and movement are calculated on a per-pitch basis for each inning in the current game as well as season-to-date and last five games, so you can see how this outing stacks up against the pitcher's historical performance. Release points are also broken down by pitch type, enabling you to notice if the pitcher is changing his arm angle or perhaps 'tipping' different pitches.

The Pitch-f/x or 'PFX' value is the distance between the location of the actual pitch, and the calculated location of a ball thrown by the pitcher in the same way but with no spin; this is the amount of 'movement' the pitcher applies to the pitch. A faster, straighter pitch like a fastball will have a higher Pitch-F/x value than a slower, breaking ball like a curveball, which will have a higher break.
Break is the greatest distance between the trajectory of the pitch at any point between the release point and the front of home plate, and the straight line path from the release point and the front of home plate. Curve balls and sliders will have larger break value than fastballs. Pitch trajectories shown in blue indicate breaking pitches.

Gameday will work on most browsers with Flash Player 9.0.115 or later installed. Click here to download the free plug-in. It is recommended that your connection speed is at higher than 512Kbps (DSL or above) and your computer has at least 1GB of RAM to ensure optimal performance. We also recommend that you minimize the use of your browser tabs on tab supported browsers, which free up capacity to run the application more smoothly.
Internet Explorer:- From the top toolbar of your browser click "Tools" then "Internet Options" then "Settings"
- Under the statement "Check for newer version of stored pages." click on "Every visit to page"
- Click OK and OK again to confirm the change
You don't need to do this for other browsers.

Tech Notes
Automatic flash installer detection does not work properly on Firefox / Mac versions 2.0.0.7 through 2.0.0.12. Updating the browser to 2.0.0.13 or later fixes the issue. Click here to update.
Automatic flash installer detection does not work properly on linux, x86 systems. It will display white screen in Gameday tab. Visit Adobe to install Flash version 9.0.115 or later here. This will work for Firefox, Mozilla, and SeaMonkey. Restart and come back to Gameday.

- Must use 'Allow Pop-ups' for this page or it won't load: Tools>Quick Preferences>Edit Site Preferences>General tab
- Preferences dialog setting: Preferences>Advanced>Loading. Set to 'Redraw instantly'
- Get the latest Flash Player plugin for Opera here.
If you have attempted to uninstall flash plug-in in the past without running appropriate uninstaller, the plug-in may not operate properly. To fix this issue, run the uninstaller again to completely remove all components, and then click here to install flash again.
