Guzman Receives Texas League Award 04/14/2008 3:14 PM ETBy Greg Bergman / Midland RockHounds
During a ten game span to start the 2008 season, Guzman has hit an amazing .535, while collecting 23 hits (6 of them for extra bases) and 14 RBI (2nd in the Texas League). The infielder has helped the RockHounds get off to their best start in franchise history with a 9-1 record this season. Guzman was signed as a minor league free agent by the Oakland A's this past off-season. The Sucre, Venezuela native has played two seasons (2005 & 2006) in the Texas League with the San Antonio Missions, while in the Seattle Mariners organization. Be sure to come out to Citibank Ballpark on Monday and Tuesday to watch Guzman and the rest of the RockHounds as they put the final touches on the first homestand of the season. The 'Hounds will travel to San Antonio on Wednesday to start a four game series with the Missions on Thursday.
