07/19/2009 3:37 PM ET
The Bisons couldn't take three straight from Toledo, dropping the fourth and final game of the series 5-3, Sunday Afternoon from Coca-Cola Field.

After back-to-back shutouts in Saturday's double header, the Bisons finally saw the opposition put a run on the board. Jeff Larish crushed a solo homerun in the second inning to give the Mud Hens the 1-0 edge.

Toledo would strike again in the next inning. The Mud Hens put together a two-out rally in the third, plating three runs , taking the 4-0 advantage. Scott Sizemore plated two on an RBI double and Jeff Larish singled in another for his second RBI of the day.

Buffalo starter Ken Takahashi was unable to build off the momentum of his first two starts with the Herd since being inserted into the starting rotation. The southpaw was 0-1 with a 0.82 ERA in two starts with Buffalo entering Sunday's contest. Takahashi lasted just three innings, giving up four runs on six hits, striking out three and walking one in the losing effort.

Chip Ambres turned in a solid effort from the plate for Buffalo going 3-3 with two doubles and scoring all three Bisons runs.

Buffalo would score in the bottom of the third on an RBI double from Jesus Feliciano, making it 4-1.

The Herd scored again in the fifth on an RBI double by Rene Rivera. Buffalo's third run came on a fielding error by Jeff Larish in the eighth, bringing Ambres home from third.

Toledo starting pitcher Eddie Bonine tossed eight solid innings, giving up three runs on seven hits, striking out one in the win. The righty earned his first road win of the season and is now 2-0 in the month of July.

Despite Takahashi's short outing, the Bisons bullpen kept the team in the game. Buffalo's relievers combined to throw six innings of one run ball, keeping Toledo off the board over the last five frames.

The Herd brought the tying run to the plate in the bottom of the ninth, but couldn't bring things even.

With Sunday's loss, Buffalo earned a series split with the Mud Hens. Buffalo won the season series against Toledo 5-3 a year ago. Buffalo hasn't lost a set against the Mud Hens at Coca-Cola Field since the 2003 season.

The Herd will now hit the road for eight games away from Coca-Cola Field. Buffalo will play two, four-game sets against Louisville and Indianapolis.
