Herd Falls in Louisville, 5-2 07/21/2009 9:32 PM ETBy Joel Walrath / Buffalo Bisons
The Louisville Bats are virtually running away with the International League West Division. The Bats stretched their division lead even further on Tuesday night with a 5-2 victory over the Bisons at Louisville Slugger Field. The Bats have now won nine of their last 11 games, including two straight from the Bisons to start this four-game series. The team now has a 9.5 game lead over Indianapolis in the IL West. For the second straight night, it was an all-out attack from the Bats line-up. Daniel Dorn doubled in the game's first run in the second inning and Darnell McDonald and Wes Bankston knocked in runs in the third. That gave Louisville a 3-1 advantage, a lead they would not relinquish. Dorn and McDonald added insurance later in the game. Dorn singled home another run in the sixth inning and the former Bison McDonald homered for the second straight game with a solo shot in the eighth. Buffalo received a nice addition to their lineup on Tuesday as outfielder Josh Petersen was promoted from Double-A Binghamton. The 26-year old doubled twice and scored the Herd's first run on Jesus Feliciano's RBI-single. The Bisons also got a home run from Nick Evans, his fourth of the season. The loss for Buffalo went to Tobi Stoner (2-4). The Triple-A rookie allowed four runs in six inning of work.
