Z's Hosting First Opening Week Meet And Greet02/22/2010 3:45 PM ET
The New Orleans Zephyrs are giving their fans a unique opportunity to get fired up for the 2010 season by hosting the first Opening Week Meet and Greet, presented by Zea's, to be held at Zephyr Field on Tuesday, April 6th from 6-8:30 p.m.
The event, which includes drinks and a catered dinner from Zea's, costs $20 per person, with proceeds going to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
All fans will also receive a Zephyrs promotional giveaway, perfect to collect autographs from players and coaches from 6-6:30. The team will then be introduced to the crowd, with featured speakers including manager Edwin Rodriguez, hitting coach Greg Norton, pitching coach Scott Mitchell and general manager Mike Schline.
"This is a chance for our fans to get up close and personal with our team in a fun environment," said Schline. "When Opening Day rolls around, they'll be familiar with the guys taking the field. The Zephyrs are also proud that 100 percent of the proceeds benefits a great charity."
"It is an honor and a thrill for the CF Foundation to be chosen to partner with the Zephyrs for their annual meet and greet," said Ashley Mills, Executive Director of CFF's Louisiana Chapter.
Other activities include a raffle and silent auction, and batting practice on the field with Z's coaches.
Opening Day is Thursday, April 8th when the Zephyrs face the Round Rock Express at 7:00 p.m. For more information or to purchase tickets, call the Zephyrs at (504) 734-5155.
