Right-handed pitcher Chris Schroder, who spent parts of the 2005 and 2006 seasons in the New Orleans Zephyrs bullpen, has signed a Minor League contract with the Florida Marlins.

Schroder, 31, was 4-1 with a 3.58 ERA in 47 games over two seasons in a Zephyrs uniform. In 2006, he made his Major League debut with the Washington Nationals, and appeared in 62 games with the club over three seasons, posting a 4.46 ERA.

Last year, Schroder joined the Oakland Athletics organization and went 3-1 with a 2.22 ERA at Triple-A Sacramento. He was briefly with the A's in May, but did not appear in a game before being returned to Sacramento.

Over his nine-year professional career, Schroder has averaged more than one struck out per inning pitched, fanning 654 batters in 571.1 innings.

The Marlins also announced the signings of infielder Danny Richar and outfielder Jeff Pruitt to Minor League deals.

The Zephyrs will begin the 2010 season by hosting the Round Rock Express on Thursday, April 8th at 7:00 p.m. For more information or for ticket packages, contact the Zephyrs at (504) 734-5155.
