Swing's Hill swats away Bees

Steve Hill homered twice and drove in a career-high five runs Friday to power the Swing of the Quad Cities past the Burlington Bees, 6-5, at John O'Donnell Stadium.

Hill slugged a three-run homer in the fifth inning and smacked a two-run blast, his fifth, in the eighth. He has driven in at least one run in five straight games and is 8-for-13 with 11 RBIs in his last three contests.

The 22-year-old left fielder is hitting .340 with five homers and 21 RBIs in 24 games with Quad Cities. Selected in the 13th round of the First-Year Player Draft, he started his professional career with a two-week stint in the New York-Penn League.

Jaime Landin added an RBI single in the fourth for the Swing (19-13).

Reliever Armando Carrasco (4-1) allowed a run on three hits while striking out two in two frames for the win. Ken Maiques pitched around a walk in the ninth for his 23rd save.

Joseph Dickerson belted a two-run homer, his third, in the third for the Bees (17-16).

Reliver Josh Cribb (2-8) allowed two runs on a hit and a walk over 3 1/3 frames for his first loss since June 29.
