Sea Dogs shatter attendance record

Portland, Maine- The Portland Sea Dogs have a established a new franchise record for attendance in the month of April drawing 65,254 fans in 13 openings in April this season. The mark is more than 11,000 fans more than the previous record. In 2002, 54,201 fans attended Sea Dogs games in 13 April dates.

The Sea Dogs have averaged 5,020 fans per game this season, ranking only behind Reading's 5,123 fans in the Eastern League. On Saturday, April 26th, the Sea Dogs had their highest attended game in the month of April in franchise history as a sell out crowd of 7,368 fans made their way to Hadlock Field. Portland will finish the month third in total attendance in all of Double-A baseball and 18th in all of Minor League baseball.

Last season the Sea Dogs averaged a franchise record 6,483 fans per game and sold out Hadlock Field on 24 occasions. Each of the five seasons the Sea Dogs have been affiliated with the Red Sox a new attendance record has been established. In14+ years in Portland, the Sea Dogs have attracted over 5.6 million fans.

The Portland Sea Dogs begin a six game road trip tomorrow in Bowie, Maryland. The Sea Dogs return to Hadlock Field on Monday, May 5th against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats at 6:00 PM.
