Denorfia: Give that Bat a 'Star'
06/09/2005 9:06 AM ET
Bats' right fielder Chris Denorfia had a huge night, driving in the first five runs of the game for Louisville in its 6-1 victory over Charlotte at Louisville Slugger Field.

Denorfia -- who earned the MiLB.com "Star of the Day" -- not only tied a career high with five RBI, but he also hit his first Triple-A home run.

The Southington, Conn., native went 3-for-4 with a three-run homer in the bottom of the first inning (estimated at 389 feet) and a two-run single in the fifth.

Promoted to Louisville (28-32) from Double-A Chattanooga (24-36) on May 26, Denorfria is batting .351 in his first two weeks at Triple-A. He had hit .330 with seven homers and 26 RBI for the Lookouts.

After attending high school at Choate-Rosemary Hall, Denorfia attended Wheaton College in Massachusetts, where he is the career leader in games (169), at-bats (655), runs (182), hits (264) and stolen bases (73).
