Jesus Castillo's three-run double in the eighth inning lifted visiting Yucatan over Angelopolis, 9-3, on Monday, forging a 1-1 tie in the best-of-7 Mexican League division series.

Castillo, who went 3-for-5, snapped a 3-3 tie with his second double of the game. Said Gutierrez hit a two-run homer in the fifth and Pedro Castellano tied the game at 3-3 in the sixth with a solo shot for the Leones, who bounced back from Sunday's series-opening 7-1 loss.

The three-hour and 55-minute contest, played before 4,697 fans in Angelopolis, was the lone Mexican League playoff game of the day.

Jose Vargas (2-0) picked up the win in relief, striking out one in 2 1/3 perfect inning.

Jorge Alberto Vasquez hit a three-run homer in the third for the Tigres.

Reliever Baudel Zambrano (0-1) surrendered three runs on two hits and two walks while retiring two batters in the eighth. -- Michael Echan/
