08/20/2006 9:06 PM ET
Before Sunday, Juan Apodaca had one Florida State League home run all season. He added three more by night's end in Vero Beach's rout of Jupiter.

Apodaca plated five runs in the 16-6 victory at Holman Stadium. He capped the six-run first inning with a three-run homer over the center-field fence. He also crushed solo homers in the third and seventh.

The outing raised his average to .238 and his RBI total to 12 in 25 games since being promoted from Class A Columbus. In 55 games with the Catfish, he had just one homer.

David Nicholson went 4-for-5 with three runs scored, Drew Locke drove in three runs and Eloy Gutierrez went 3-for-4 with three runs scored, including an RBI double, for the Dodgers (21-33).

Cory Wade (2-3) allowed six runs on eight hits over five innings. He struck out six and walked one.

J.T. Restko hit a three-run homer in the fifth and had two hits for Jupiter (20-36).

James Brauer (5-8) was rocked for 10 runs -- eight earned -- on nine hits over 2 1/3 innings. He walked two and did not strike out a batter.
