International League
Steven White, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre
2-0, 0.00 ERA, 2 G, 2 GS, 15.1 IP, 8 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 3 BB, 5 SO
White picked up two wins this week, and is now 3-1 with a 2.37 ERA since receiving a promotion from Class A Advanced Tampa in the beginning of June. The 26-year-old allowed just two hits over 7 1/3 scoreless innings against Syracuse on Monday, and he followed that up by surrendering an unearned run over eight innings against Ottawa on Sunday.
Pacific Coast League
Manny Parra, Nashville
2-0, 0.60 ERA, 2 G, 2 GS, 1 CG, 1 SHO, 15 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 15 SO
After going 7-3 with a 2.68 ERA over 13 starts with Double-A Huntsville, Parra is showing that he is more than capable of handling Triple-A batsmen. On Monday, the 24-year-old southpaw threw a perfect game against Round Rock, becoming the first individual pitcher to accomplish the feat in the PCL in over four years. On Saturday, Parra followed his 11-strikeout perfecto with yet another victory over Round Rock, allowing a run on two hits over six innings of work.
Eastern League
Clay Buchholz, Portland
1-0, 0.79 ERA, 2 G, 2 GS, 11.1 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 15 SO
Buchholz continued to show why he's one of the very best pitchers in the EL, as the 22-year-old allowed just one run over 11 1/3 innings this week and now leads the league with a 1.69 ERA. Both of his starts came against New Hampshire, and both were phenomenal. On Monday, he picked up his sixth win of the season, allowing one run on four hits over 6 1/3 innings while striking out 11. On Sunday, he hurled five hitless innings in the Sea Dogs' eventual 3-1 loss.
Southern League
Johnny Cueto, Chattanooga
1-0, 0.69 ERA, 2 G, 2 GS, 13 IP, 8 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 19 SO
Cueto, a 21-year-old flamethrower, made his Double-A debut with the Lookouts on Tuesday and immediately showed that he belonged. Well, almost immediately. After surrendering a home run to the first batter he faced, the Dominican native hurled six scoreless innings and picked up the win against Huntsville. Cueto was even better against the Mudcats on Sunday, as he struck out 13 batters over seven shutout innings in a game that was suspended with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning.
Texas League
Adam Daniels, Springfield
2-0, 1.20 ERA, 2 G, 2 GS, 1 CG, 15.0 IP, 9 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 5 BB, 21 SO
Daniels made one start this week, and it was a beauty. On Friday, the 24-year-old southpaw scattered three hits over seven shutout innings and picked up the victory as the Cardinals defeated Midland, 4-0. Daniels is 2-1 with a 3.12 ERA over three starts with Springfield, after going 4-6 with a 3.52 ERA over 12 starts with Class A Advanced Palm Beach.
California League
Matt Buschmann, Lake Elsinore
2-0, 1.29 ERA, 2 G, 2 GS, 12.2 IP, 10 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 4 BB, 11 SO
It's déjà vu all over again, as Buschmann takes home Pitcher of the Week honors for the second time in a row. On Tuesday, the 23-year-old allowed an unearned run on five hits over six innings as Lake Elsinore defeated High Desert. He followed that Sunday by yielding two runs on five hits over 6 2/3 innings against San Jose. Buschmann has won his past three starts, and he is 7-4 with a 3.42 ERA.
Carolina League
Shairon Martis, Potomac
1-0, 1.39 ERA, 2 G, 2 GS, 13.0 IP, 8 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 4 BB, 12 SO
Martis, a native of the Netherlands, turned in two nearly identical starts this week. On Tuesday against Frederick, he allowed a run on four hits over six innings while striking out six, and he had to settle for a no-decision. On Sunday, the 20-year-old yielded a run on four hits over seven innings against Lynchburg, and picked up his sixth win over 16 appearances with the Nationals.
Florida State League
Adam Ottavino, Palm Beach
2-0, 0.00 ERA, 2 G, 2 GS, 14.0 IP, 10 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 12 SO
Ottavino hurled 14 shutout innings over two starts this week and now ranks sixth in the FSL with a 2.78 ERA. The 21-year-old scattered four hits over a season-high eight innings against Fort Myers on Tuesday, and followed that up Sunday by yielding six hits over six innings against Sarasota. Ottavino picked up a win in both outings, and he is now over .500 (6-5) for the first time this season.
Midwest League
Tyler Herron, Quad Cities
2-0, 0.90 ERA, 2 G, 1 GS, 10.0 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 11 SO
Herron has won eight straight decisions after losing his first four. On Tuesday, the 20-year-old pitched four scoreless innings in relief and picked up the victory as the Swing rallied for a 5-4 win over Clinton. The 20-year-old started against Wisconsin four days later and allowed a run on three hits over six innings while striking out a season-high 10 batters.
South Atlantic League
Daniel Griffin, Augusta
2-0, 0.00 ERA, 2 G, 2 GS, 10.0 IP, 6 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 9 SO
Griffin started against West Virginia on Monday and hurled four scoreless innings as the GreenJackets coasted to a 9-0 win. He stuck around long enough to pick up the victory in his next start, scattering three hits over six shutout frames as Augusta defeated Lexington, 5-3. Danielson now has a 2.56 ERA over 17 appearances -- seven of which have been starts -- spanning 59 2/3 innings.
New York-Penn League
Drew Naylor, Williamsport
2-0, 0.60 ERA, 2 G, 2 GS, 15.0 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 13 SO
Naylor has hit the ground running in the NYPL, as he's won his first three starts and has allowed just one run over 22 innings pitched. On Monday, the native of Australia surrendered a run on three hits over eight innings against Jamestown, and he followed that up with seven shutout frames against Auburn on Saturday. Opponents are hitting just .122 against Naylor this season.
Northwest League
Leonardo Martinez, Vancouver
1-0, 0.90 ERA, 2 G, 2 GS, 10.0 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 5 BB, 8 SO
Martinez earned the win against Yakima on Monday, allowing a run on four hits over six innings of work while striking out six. He suffered from some control problems in his next outing, as the 20-year-old allowed two hits, five walks, and hit a batter over four shutout innings against Salem-Keizer. Martinez is 2-0 with a 1.13 ERA over three starts this season.
Appalachian League
David Bromberg, Elizabethton
2-0, 0.00 ERA, 2 G, 1 GS, 9.0 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 13 SO
Bromberg struggled in his season debut with the Twins on June 20, but was lights-out for the week. On Monday, the 19-year-old struck out 10 over five shutout innings and picked up the victory as Elizabethton cruised to an eventual 20-6 win over Princeton. On Saturday, the Los Angeles native hurled four scoreless relief innings against Burlington, and he picked up another win as the Twins defeated the Royals, 8-2, in the completion of Friday's suspended game.
Pioneer League
Richard Seidel, Helena
2-0, 0.82 ERA, 2 G, 2 GS, 11.0 IP, 1 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 4 BB, 10 SO
Seidel has faced the Missoula Osprey in his three appearances this season, and each outing has been better than the last. After getting tagged for five runs over five innings in his debut in June 20, the 6-foot-5 righty excelled this week. On Monday, he allowed two runs -- one earned -- on a hit and three walks over five innings as the Brewers coasted to a 9-2 win. Five days later, he was downright dominating, tossing six hitless innings in Helena's eventual 8-3 victory.
