The Biloxi Shuckers and William Carey Crusaders baseball team will meet in an exhibition game on April 4 at MGM Park. The game, scheduled for a 6:35 p.m. first pitch, will serve as a fundraiser for William Carey University, whose campus was impacted by tornadoes in January.
The Shuckers, in partnership with Walmart, unveiled plans for the "Hit the Books" reading program, which aims to teach local students the importance of literacy. The incentive-based drive will reward students who reach their reading goals with a ticket to a Shuckers game this season.
Members of the Shuckers' front office staff helped to restore the baseball fields off of Frederick Street in Moss Point. The crew put down sod, painted and did other restoration products to help get youth baseball back on the field!
The Biloxi Shuckers announced today that Biloxi native Barry Lyons, former Major League Baseball Player for the Dodgers, Angels, White Sox and member of the 1986 World Champion New York Mets is joining the organization as a team ambassador. Lyons will make appearances on behalf of the organization and serve as a team representative in the community and throughout baseball.
