Focus Area
Comments
Hitting Ability:Presley can definitely hit the fastball, but struggles with the offspeed stuff.
Power:He's got very good raw power and can hit a fastball a long ways.
Running Speed:He's a slightly below-average runner.
Base Running:He's an average runner at best.
Arm Strength:Presley has a fringy-average arm.
Fielding:He's a touch below average defensively, with below-average hands, and likely won't be able to play shortstop, his current position, at the next level.
Range:He has below-average range and his feet don't work well defensively. Some feel he will have to move to the outfield.
Physical Description:Presley is not very athletic, but has a good frame, kind of like Ryan Zimmerman or a leaner Scott Rolen.
Medical Update:Healthy.
Strengths:Very good raw power. Presley can put on a show during batting practice.
Weaknesses:His defense is a liability. Even if you were sold on the bat, it's unclear what position Presley should play at the next level.
Summary:Presley is the top prospect from Colorado, but weather issues always mean limited sample size and higher risk. He can flat out pound a fastball and shows some serious pop from the right side of the plate. The rest of his offensive game is on the raw side and he's below average defensively. He's got a fairly strong commitment to the University of Arizona.
