Comments |
| Hitting Ability: | Decker has good overall hitting ability, though he can get long with his swing at times. He's also a little too straight up and down with his stance. |
| Power: | He will have some even though his frame doesn't look like it should. |
| Running Speed: | He's a below-average runner. |
| Base running: | It's not a part of his game. |
| Arm Strength: | Also a pitcher who can throw up to 93 mph, he's got above-average arm strength in the outfield. |
| Fielding: | He's got very good instincts defensively and catches everything he gets to. |
| Range: | Because of his lack of speed, his range is somewhat limited. |
| Physical Description: | Decker is kind of stocky. While he's drawn some Brian Giles comps, a Matt Stairs comparison may make more sense. |
| Medical Update: | Healthy. |
| Strengths: | Good hitting ability, some power, above-average arm. |
| Weaknesses: | A little limited defensively, he's a right field/DH type who'll have to show enough power to man that corner. |
| Summary: | While most people were looking at Decker as a hitter, there probably are still some who might considering him on the mound. He can throw upwards of 93 mph with a decent curve, and that arm strength serves him well in the outfield. He's got a pretty good approach as a hitter and has the chance to hit for pretty good power, looking like a Matt Stairs-like right fielder in the future. |
