Comments
Fastball:Lynn threw his fastball in the 88-90 mph range in this outing, though he's been a tick faster than that in the past.
Fastball movement:He's got some sink on the fastball.
Curve:He throws an average curve.
Changeup:His changeup also grades out as average.
Control:He really commands the strike zone well.
Poise:A good competitor, he really knows how to pitch.
Physical Description:Lynn is a big right-hander who is kind of built like Joba Chamberlain and will have to watch his conditioning.
Medical Update:Healthy.
Strengths:Excellent command, knowledge of how to pitch, outstanding makeup and competitiveness on mound.
Weaknesses:He doesn't have a true out pitch, with average stuff across the board, and he'll need to stay on top of his weight.
Summary:Lacking great pure stuff, Lynn is a level behind the elite college arms in this Draft class. But he makes the most out of his average offerings with excellent command, a knowledge of how to pitch and a real competitive streak on the mound. He's done a good job of maintaining his weight this year and will have to continue to do so as a pro. He won't wow you, but he's the type who could be a solid innings-eater who presumably won't take long to be big-league ready.
