The 2005 Gulf Coast League championship was won in impressive fashion by the GCL Yankees, who defeated their parent organization's two fiercest rivals in the process. The GCL Yankees defeated the GCL Red Sox in a one-game playoff to advance to the best-of-three GCL Championship Series. It was there that they swept the GCL Mets in two straight to claim the crown.
