The 2016 Minor League Baseball Promotional Seminar is headed to Birmingham, Alabama, Sept. 27 - 29. More than 300 sports executives from across the country will come together in "The Magic City," where they will look to make some magic happen at one of the industry's most prolific idea-exchange forums. Attendees will also have the chance to network and socialize, meet with exhibitors and job seekers and give local community.

The sports industry is constantly evolving, and every year there are new, creative and innovative ideas that expand the limits of what we can do, and how much revenue and exposure we can create. Whether in sales, marketing, promotions, community relations or any other facet of the business, every department can influence the direction and growth of its organization. If you are a 20-year veteran team president, a first-year ticket sales associate or someone in between, there is something you can learn at the Promotional Seminar to take back to your business.

The three-day seminar gives attendees the opportunity to recap the successes and challenges of the previous season with their colleagues and peers in an informal setting. Though named the Promotional Seminar, this is not just about promotions. Past presentation topics have covered sales, marketing, community relations, media relations, stadium operations, merchandising and more. Group Therapy Sessions allow for a smaller setting where participants can speak freely among the group and build on one another's questions and comments. High-level executives share an open dialogue where they discuss their responsibilities and challenges with their peers at the Executive Summit. A new addition to the seminar, OPEN Sessions create an idea-sharing platform that give attendees a chance to focus on a specific aspect of the business that pertains to them, and discuss ideas, successes and challenges. OPEN stands for Ongoing Professional Engagement Network, which means we hope that these conversations will continue year-round.

Social events also highlight the annual seminar agenda. The MiLB Charities Community Service Project, Welcome Luncheon, First Night Reception, Cocktail Party & Silent Auction and the Ballpark Outing are among the week's scheduled activities. This year's Ballpark Outing will be very special, as it will be split between historic Rickwood Field, the oldest surviving professional baseball park in the United States, and Regions Field, home of the Birmingham Barons. Attendees are also encouraged to attend the two-day trade show and take part in the job fair. The sixth annual Golden Bobblehead Awards, presented on the final night during the Ballpark Outing, will cap off the week's list of exciting events.

By taking place at the onset of the offseason, it allows time for you to take those ideas and concepts you shared and learned, make a plan and actually implement them for the following season.
