Special Events

Moving Diversity Forward

Hear from experts in the field of diversity and inclusion, as well as executives in the baseball industry who have found success establishing diverse practices within their respective organizations and communities. The primary focus is providing the business case for diversity and exploring strategies clubs can employ to promote diversity within the industry. Only Minor League Baseball and Major League Baseball club personnel are eligible to attend. For more information about the event, contact Vincent Pierson at VPierson@MiLB.com or 727-456-1704.

Banquet

Presented by New Era Cap Co., this annual event features the presentation of some of baseball's most prestigious awards, including the King of Baseball, John H. Johnson President's Award, Larry MacPhail Award, Warren Giles Award, Sheldon "Chief" Bender Award, Mike Coolbaugh Award and John Henry Moss Community Service Award. An addition to this year's list of awards includes the newly-created Charles K. Murphy Patriot Award, which recognizes an individual or club for its outstanding support of military branches and level of engagement with veterans.

For more information on these awards, visit More on the awards.

Bill Gladstone with Pat O'Conner

PBEO Job Fair

The 23rd annual PBEO Job Fair will give individuals seeking employment in the baseball industry the opportunity to meet face-to-face with club executives and interview on-site for a variety of available positions. Job fair attendees can search jobs ranging from internships to full-time positions, then apply, interview and receive offers at the Baseball Winter Meetings. With December marking the height of the baseball hiring season, an average of 400 - 500 jobs are posted each year for between 450 - 550 job seekers. For more information about PBEO and the Job Fair, visit www.PBEO.com.

Bob Freitas Business Seminar & Workshop Series

A staple of the Baseball Winter Meetings for more than two decades, the Bob Freitas Business Seminar continues its tradition of delivering insightful speakers and attention-grabbing topics to attendees. Updated Freitas tracks for 2016 include Sales & Marketing, Digital Media, Licensing & Merchandising, Communications and Fielder's Choice. Organizations can benefit from the information offered by a diverse list of presenters. Morning breakout sessions, featuring presenters from the baseball world and beyond, provide valuable insight into the sports industry and its best practices. Monday afternoon features the Bob Freitas Workshop Series, which consists of group discussions in small rooms for improved communication. A moderator will present a topic and then allow those in attendance to share their experiences and ideas with the group, allowing for closer interaction among attendees in a quieter, smaller location. The Bob Freitas Workshop Series will continue on the Baseball Trade Show floor on Tuesday. These informal workshops will offer attendees the freedom to stop in for a few minutes, while walking the show floor, or stay for the entire 30-minute session. For a full schedule, click here.

Awards Luncheon

Presented by Musco Sports Lighting, the annual Awards Luncheon recognizes some of the top individuals and clubs within the game of baseball. Highlights of the event include opening remarks from Minor League Baseball President & CEO Pat O'Conner, followed by award presentations for the Joe Bauman Award, Rawlings Woman Executive of the Year, Bowie Kuhn Award, Sports Turf Managers of the Year, Scouts of the Year, Baseball America Organization of the Year and The Bob Freitas Awards. The Awards Luncheon is attended by more than 1,000 individuals and is a way for attendees from both Minor League Baseball and Major League Baseball to honor their peers and colleagues.

With more than 250 companies exhibiting their products and services, the Baseball Trade Show is the ideal setting to check out the latest baseball products and make purchases for equipment, player apparel, retail merchandise, promotional items and services. Gala

Presented by Essensa, K&K Insurance, New Era Cap Co., Rawlings and the Washington Nationals, the Gala's laid-back atmosphere and casual social setting offers all attendees, exhibitors and job seekers a chance to network and socialize beyond the week's scheduled meetings.
