Stan, based in Washington, D.C., is in charge of Minor League Baseballís government relations activities, coordinating representation before Congress in connection with legislative proposals impacting the Minor Leagues. After having been a candidate for NAPBL president in Dec. 1991, he joined the organization in 1992, first as Special Counsel and then Vice President.
He practices in Washington, D.C. with Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP, concentrating on high-profile white collar, government ethics and campaign finance matters. Prior to joining Akin Gump in July 2015, he was the principal owner of the litigation boutique Brand Law. Before he founded the firm in 1983, he was chief legal officer for the House of Representatives under Speaker Tip O'Neill (1976-84). A native of New York City, Stan graduated with honors in English from Franklin & Marshall College and has a J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center.
