Mike Ellis has been involved in Minor League Baseball for 19 years. His baseball experience has included the ownership of three franchises (he purchased the current Missoula Osprey Baseball team in 1993). He has been the vice president of two leagues, served a term on the MiLB Board of Trustees, and has served as a member of MiLB committees. As part of his team involvement, he negotiated the construction of two new stadiums.
Ellis has degrees in Civil Engineering Technology, Urban Studies and two years of post-graduate study in Urban and Regional Planning.
Ellis' 40 years of non-baseball experience most recently includes the better part of 20 years with the highly regarded community developer, The Irvine Company, in Orange County, Calif. As Executive Vice President of Land Development and Construction for Irvine Community Development Company, He was responsible for the entitlement, design and construction of respected and high profile communities.
The Ellis family first became involved in Minor League Baseball in 1984, when Mike's wife, Judy, first worked for the Lodi Crushers of the California League. In 1999, she was named the recipient of the Rawlings Woman Executive of the Year Award. His son, Matt, began his career with the Phoenix Firebirds in 1989 and has been named League Executive of the Year in both the Pioneer and California Leagues.
